The Chiefs are Mr Herlihy, Ms Wrack and Mrs Faalili. Sometimes they can be a bit crazy but they sure know how to have FUN, which is one of our school values. Lockdown can be crazy too, but check out The Chiefs having some fun with a good classic song.

Who am I? You may ask?

"Who am I? you may ask" is our movie about ourselves and our identity. It is about us and the things we want to be when we grow older. It is about the things that we are. It teaches us to embrace who we are and the things that make us special. 

We are leaders. We are confident. We are strong!

Make & Create the number 55

 For Maths, Quotients & Multipliers had to use colour to MAKE & CREATE the number 55. They also had to show and explain how they made 55.

100 numbers for Maths

 Today for Maths, we had a task - TO FIND 100 NUMBERS. 

We had to work in groups and we were given 2 minutes to find the numbers. We had to find the numbers in order (1,2,3,4..) and we had to take turns. 

 

The first time we did it, we didn't find many numbers. The second time we did it, each group got better. After this second time, Kymani found a paterrn - have a look at the pictures below. Can you see the pattern? We then got to do it a third time - and we were even better than the 2nd time.

From this activity we talked about what made us successful.

We all decided that we were successful because we 

- Worked together as a team. This meant that we were taking turns and listening to each other.

- Helped each other out. When it was 1 persons turn, we were all looking for the number to help them.

- Stayed focussed. We were doing the work that we had to do. No one was playing around or mucking about, we all were focussed on the learning. 

- Were patient with each other.

- Listened to each other. 

We will continue to work on these things during our learning time so that we successful! 

Term 3 Kiwisport

We have lots of fun during our kiwisport sessions. This term, it was SOCCER!

Home Learning - BAKING STYLE!

We did baking today on our 1pm google meet! It was very busy but also lots of fun. I think it was a bit stressful for the parents but that's okay - they got a yummy slice out of it at the end.

Ava-May; Workhouse Musician

 Part of our learning this term has been around identifying and using adjectives in writing. Ava-May has a description using adjectives for the writing task 'WORKHOUSE MUSICIAN'. 

How many adjectives can you find? 

One day this little boy he had no home so he found this place wear these people

used to live their and when they moved out he thought yeah I should move in here

because I have no home.

But he had no clothes so he said to himself maybe I can only wear these clothes

because I have no other clothes.

Then when he moved into the house he found this violin and he said may as well

practice violin cause that’s all will keep me occupied. So he found this bird when

he was looking for somewhere to live so he took care of him. He had to find food

everywhere for both of them. But until then they will do the exact same thing 

everyday always find food and take care of his pet bird. By Ava-May

GTS Bike Track Opening

Today we had the GRAND OPENING for our BRAND NEW BIKE TRACK. They started working on the bike track when we came out of lock down. 

We had to meet in the hall and our Chair of our Board, Scott talked to us about cycling. He introduced Campbell Stewart to everyone. He is a NZ Champion in Cycling. Our Kapa Haka Group sung waiata as well. 

Once the ceremony was over and Matua T blessed our bike track, we got to go out onto the field. Some of us got selected to ride the bike track on some of the new bikes. Some people did wheelies and cool tricks on there. 

We're so lucky to have the bike track and the bikes that have been donated and stored at school. 

We are very lucky at GTS. 

Our postcards have arrived!

Get NZ Writing. 

Today we received a SPECIAL package! It was from our buddy class at Paparangi School in Wellington. We had so much fun reading their postcards and giggled at some too. We hope they enjoyed our postcards just as much as we enjoyed theirs. 

BBM Mindfulness with Whaea Leah

Today, during Mindfulness with Whaea Leah we had to work together as a TEAM to get our team members across the river and back again. We had to do it safely.

It was a bit tricky because we had to figure out the best order for us to get our team over. But it was also LOTS and LOTS of FUN!

School Kit - Let's get NZ Writing

Today, we finally got to try on the 3D glasses and read our poem that we wrote together! We even got to have a look outside with our glasses on and the sky looked AMAZING! 

How to make Panipopo - By Ava May

Samoan Language Week - Panipopo

Today we learnt about a Samoan dessert - PANIPOPO (Coconut Buns)

We watched a video from Coconet tv to help us cook. 

To save time, Mrs Faalili made the dough at home. When it was time to make our pani popo the dough had doubled in size! 

We each worked in groups of 3 to make a tray of panipopo. We got to punch the flour, flatten it, roll it and then cut into pieces. Once it was cut, we put them in our tray. 

For the juice, we used coconut cream, water and sugar. We mixed it together and then poured it over our buns. We saved some so that we could put some on the buns while they were cooking. 

The end product was DELICIOUS! SWEET! JUICY!
