More writing fun - DIRECTIONS

Part of our writing this week was about what IMPERATIVE VERBS are. We like to call them BOSSY WORDS because they tell us very strongly what to do e.g. TURN, POUR, MIX, GO STRAIGHT.

Today, we wrote directions for writing. We were given the task of writing a set of directions from a starting point to the library. After the writing we came back into class for the next instructions.

The fun part was when we had to swap books, be blindfolded and then follow the directions exactly in the hope that we will make it to the library without getting hurt.

Butter Making

This week we made butter. We had so much fun.

We made butter because we are learning to write instructions but also because we were learning about how the rates of reaction differ when there are other elements involved.

And we're back!

We are back and ready (even though we may not look like we're ready - we are) to roll with term 2! 

We hope everyone had a safe holidays! 

And we are DONE for the term!

Wow! That term went by so fast. We've had some great fun. Some of the highlights were definitely the Culture Festival and the Art Exhibition (including the lead up to the big events). Goal Setting Night was a great chance to meet with whanau and Swimming Fun Day was epic and we're all looking forward to what craziness we get up to in Term 2.

We had so much fun looking at everyone's art this week, so much so, we had to go back again for another visit! Have a look to see which pieces were our favourite.

Art Exhibition

We had our very own Art Exhibition. Today we got to go back in through the exhibition with Room 10 and choose our favourite piece. 

One of our favourite art piece is the diorama, especially the elephant one.  It's one of our favourite because it was very creative. I liked that the diorama used lots of colours and it's made by Wint. 

Share kindness.

With everything that has happened this week, we want to share our support with our brothers and sisters in Christchurch. We want to share love and kindness with others.

GTS Powhiri

Today, we had our first powhiri for the year. We have a powhiri every term to welcome new whanau to our school community.

This powhiri was extremely special because we had our very own Savanah and Josephine step up and be leaders. They were 2 of the 3 kaikaranga for our special day.

They both did amazing jobs at their karanga. So confident. So proud.

Imagine you are an astronaut

Today for writing, we read a fictional diary entry of an astronaut and his daughter. While reading, we thought that they were both enjoying themselves in outer space.

For our writing task, we had to imagine that we were in outerspace with our dad and write a diary entry for the following day.
