3. From Grass To Glass - Maths

Our Maths ...

We looked at bearings and directions today for maths. We used Tina's route to explain what direction she takes using the words like 'NORTH, SOUTH, EAST, WEST and NORTH EAST, SOUTH EAST, NORTH WEST, SOUTH WEST.

We started at Fonterra and had to make our way through to the 4 different farms to pick up the milk from the tankers.

Here are some photos showing what we did

Ngwe Sin, Ocean, Natalie and Josephine with Baby Suifili highlighting Tina's route

Kisina, Metua and Bullard listening to the directions

Pita using the compass trying to face North

Morgan, Antonio, Savanah and Noah tracing Tina's route

Hi, We are Room 9

We saw on our buddy class' blog that they created a slide deck to introduce themselves. We learnt lots about them and noticed that we even had some things in common. So we thought it would be a great idea if we introduced ourselves to them and create a slide deck so that they can learn a bit more about us.

Hi, we are Room 9.

We'd love to know if we share any similarities with you - let us know by leaving us a comment!

Our Buddy Class - Tuhi mai Tuhi Atu

Related imageIn Room 9 we have a buddy class from another school. This buddy class is through Tuhi Mai, Tuhi Atu. The school is Mangapapa school and our buddy class is Room 15!  Click on the image to go on to their class blog
Throughout the week, we were exploring their class blog as well as some of their personal learning blogs. We noticed that there were only 2 boys...TWO! That shocked some of us and some of the boys don't think they'd be able to handle that. Hah! We had lots of fun exploring their blogs and leaving positive, thoughtful and helpful comments.

We're looking forward to this Tuhi Mai, Tuhi Atu journey.

Fun Run

Today some group of people from Room 9 went to One Tree Hill to do fun run. Fun run is when you run a somewhere where some polices run for training. So when you finish running up the hill you are timed and there are Queens and Kings and the King from our school was Liston Vakauta and the Queen from our school was Khin Linn so well done!Image result for run

NZ VR

We had the lovely ladies from NZ VR come to GTS and talk to us about our NZ waters. Through the VR headsets, we were able to travel through the surrounding waters of the northern island. We looked at fish, stingray, dolphins, whales and kina. We explored what healthy waters and non-healthy waters looked like. We had so much fun!

Kiwican

Today in Kiwican, we were learning about how and why it's important to be reliable. We discussed ways on how to be reliable at school and at home.

Our theme at the moment is:

We played MINEFIELD. A minefield was created using cones, balls and various items. The aim of the game was to get the team through the minefield while everyone's eyes were closed except the leader. It was really hard but lots of fun.
