Samoan Language Week - Panipopo

Today we learnt about a Samoan dessert - PANIPOPO (Coconut Buns)

We watched a video from Coconet tv to help us cook.

To save time, Mrs Faalili made the dough at home. When it was time to make our pani popo the dough had doubled in size!

We each worked in groups of 3 to make a tray of panipopo. We got to punch the flour, flatten it, roll it and then cut into pieces. Once it was cut, we put them in our tray.

For the juice, we used coconut cream, water and sugar. We mixed it together and then poured it over our buns. We saved some so that we could put some on the buns while they were cooking.

The end product was DELICIOUS! SWEET! JUICY!

Samoan Language Week - Koko Alaisa

Today we learnt about a traditional Samoan breakfast. KOKO ALAISA.

We watched a video to help us learn about the samoan dish. This is Veni and he is a vlogger. We watched how he made Koko Alaisa. We then had to write the instructions based on the video.

Mrs Faalili, Ava-May, Uheina from Room 9 and Moe and Nadal from Room 8 made koko alaisa for the entire syndicate. That's about 70 students altogether.

Ingredients: Samoan Koko, Rice, Water and sugar to taste.

It didn't take very long to cook. And by the time it was ready to be served, Mrs Faalili forgot all about the ipad and we missed out on the photos of all of our team enjoying the deliciously hot koko alaisa.
