The Alphabet - Sign Language

We've been learning how to finger spell our names. Here is the chart that we used to learn how to do this. By using this chart, everyone in Room 10 can confidently introduce themselves and say "Hi, my name is ___________" in NZSL

Thank you Kids Can

We are a PROUD Kids Can School. We know that we are very fortunate that we are one of their schools because we get so many things from them. When we sat down and thought about what we get, we were surprised at how much we actually got from them.

OUR LIST
1. Food (Spreads, Cereal, Fruit Cups, Muesli Bars, Scroggin)
2. Clothes (Jackets, Pants, Shoes & Socks)
3. Hygiene (Sanitary pads, Tissues, Hand Sanitizer)

To show our appreciation, we made them a card. Check out the photos below.

Check out our QUALITY BLOG COMMENTS - SCREENCAST

In cybersmart we have been looking at blogs and adding quality blog comments.

We know that a quality blog comment must be POSITIVE, THOUGHTFUL & HELPFUL.

A quality comment must have a greeting, a compliment, feedback and a question if you have one.

We have been drafting our own comments and publishing them on people’s blog posts.

We have used screencastify to share our comments and explain how they are POSITIVE, THOUGHTFUL & HELPFUL.

Here are some of our screencasts.

Recount Writing - WW1

In Room 10, we've been working on adding more detail to our writing by using our senses and recrafting our sentences so that there is more than one idea in them.

We watched a short video called Canada's 100 days and we had to imagine as if we were there, a soldier battling for our country.

Some of us worked with Mrs Faalili to enhance our paragraphs and used visualisation to really think about what we could see and hear around us.

Here are some of the amazing drafts that some of the awesome students in Room 10 came up with.

Be sure to check out the individual blogs for more amazing recounts.

Buddy Class - Week 6

This week in buddy class, we started planning and crafting our own ISLANDS. On our islands, we had to make sure that we had the four different landforms that we have been learning about...

1. Mountains
2. Hills
3. Valleys
4. Plains

We used paper and pencils to 'plan' our island. When that was done, we used paper, card and corrugated cardboard to create our landforms on our island. Check them out.

Detailed writing

This week, we have been working on adding detail to our writing.

We watched a short video about The Old Lady in the Junkyard and had to describe what she was doing. We had to make sure that each sentence told 3 pieces of information. We then had a sharing circle and had to share ONE of our sentences that has really good description.

Here they are

Movie Making

Our films are in the works. We spent some time learning about storyboarding and why people use them. We also spent time learning about different camera angles and shots and what they show the person watching.

Term 3 Powhiri

T e r m   3   P o w h i r i

Today, we had a powhiri. This was a very special powhiri because not only did we get to welcome new whanau and students to GT, but we got to say thank you to the very generous people who donated to our school and made the amazing kapa haka uniforms, korowai and poi.

At Glen Taylor, we know that we are very blessed to have such an amazing group of people supporting our vision and the things that we do. We also had a special performance from the Pasifika Pearls.

Here are some photos from the powhiri.
